The biggest award you can receive at the College Football level is the Heisman Trophy, it is awarded annually to the person deemed the most outstanding player in collegiate football. It is presented by the Heisman Trophy Trust in early December before the postseason bowl games.
Every season brings many debates on who will win this prestigious award. Last year it went to the highly controversal Johnny Manziel who has been the subject of many a news story this year, mostly for the wrong reasons, be it drunk at parties in a Tebow jersey (the Tebow part seemed to be more of an issue in this story for some reason), Not attending a Manning QB session due to illness or being caught up in a cash for signed merchandise scandal.
Manziel is a front runner to retain the trophy this season, yet winning the award 2 seasons in a row is not a common occurrence. Below is a list of the top contenders and other key players to watch. Who do you think will be the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner?
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel Clemson QB Tajh Boyd Alabama QB AJ McCarron Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater UCLA QB Brett Hundley Georgia RB Todd Gurley
Others to watch Florida State QB Jameis Winston Alabama RB T.J. Yeldon Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon Baylor RB Lache Seastrunk Colorado WR Paul Richardson Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch Oregon State QB Sean Mannion
