Week 6 gets under way with the Giants (0-5) travelling to the Bears (3-2). Tom Coughlan's G-MEN have been under the spot light for being one of the worst teams in the NFL this year. Whilst Peyton Manning is receiving all the plaudits, younger brother Eli is going through a torrid time on the football field right now.
Despite throwing 3 picks in week 1, Giants QB Eli Manning threw for 450 yards with 4 passing TD's. Since then his numbers have not been good. In week 3 he only threw for 119 yards for not TD's and 1 interception. It is common knowledge that the Giants offensive line is not elite and Eli Manning has to work with what he has got. He will not be happy with his own performance throwing 12 interceptions in 5 games. His pedigree shows that he has the experience and ability to turn his fortunes around.
RB David Wilson is out (neck) which is a blow to NY as he leads in rushing yards with 146 and Brandon Jacobs may deputise. Jacobs has ran for just 48 yards with 1 TD. WR Victor Cruz has 31 catches for 473 yards, averaging 15.26 yards a carry with 4 TD's. He will no doubt be an outlet for the Giants if Manning can find him.
On the other side of the football the Giants have only made 4 interceptions. DE Mathius Kiwanku has 1.5 sacks and FS Ryan Munday has 41 combined tackles with 1 interception.
The Bears come into this one looking to use home advantage after a defeat to New Orleans (5-0) in week 5. Marc Trestman will have heavy expectations on his shoulders as the Soldier Field faithful look for a convincing win tomorrow night.
QB Jay Cutler has thrwon for 1368 yards with 10 TD's and 6 interceptions. Last week Cutler threw for 358 yards and 2 TD's against an in form New Orelans Saints. RB Matt Forte continues clock up the numbers, he has run for 375 yards and 3 TD's, his longest being for 55 yards. 2nd year WR Alshon Jeffrey has made 28 catches for 429 yards, averaging 15.32 yards a carry with 2 TD's. Last week Jeffrey made 218 yards. Jeffrey is listed as questionable (ankle). WR Brandon Marshall has 31 catches for 378 yards with 3 TD's.
Giants fans will not be pleased to know that the Bears have the 3rd highest number of takeaways in the league with 14. LB Lance Briggs is questionable (hip) he has 51 combined tackles this seasin, this includes 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. LB DJ Williamns also has 2 sacks.
Chicago will be looking to go (3-3) and they may see NY as easy pickings as the visitors languish at the bottom of the NFC East. It's just a matter of time before the Giants get their first win of what has been a difficult season so far.
Key Men
Giants - Victor Cruz, able to make a play and a capable outlet for New York.
Bears - Matt Forte, a running back who can make up the yards and find the end zone.
